Anxiety signs you shouldn't ignore

Anxiety is normal — until it isn't
Everyone feels anxious sometimes; it's the mind's alarm system. It becomes worth attention when it's frequent, intense, or sticks around long after the stressful moment has passed.
Signs in your body
- A racing heart, tight chest, or shortness of breath
- Muscle tension, headaches, or an upset stomach
- Trouble sleeping, or feeling constantly "wired"
- Restlessness — hard to sit still
Signs in your mind
- Worry you can't switch off, even about small things
- Expecting the worst, or replaying situations again and again
- Avoiding places, people, or tasks because they feel overwhelming
- Trouble concentrating, or a mind that goes blank
What helps
Slow breathing (out longer than in), grounding your senses, and gentle movement can settle the body in the moment. If anxiety is regularly getting in the way of your day, talking to a specialist can help you understand it and build lasting tools. You can also try the Anxiety check-in in your toolkit to notice patterns — it's a reflection, not a diagnosis.
